Jasmine Whyte

I have 15 years' experience as a qualified secondary school English Teacher and Head of Year, and 6 years’ experience as a Private Tutor across KS2 – KS4. I am currently an English Lecturer at a Further Education establishment. I also teach online English sessions to a small group of KS3 and KS4 students at an Alternative Provision, as well as private English tuition to students of all ages. My experience as a classroom teacher and Head of Year has afforded me the understanding of the academic, social and emotional pressures students experience in their transition through each academic year, as well as the concerns of their parents who want their children to succeed in achieving the highest grades possible. My passion is to support anxious parents and students; challenge high achievers and motivate underachievers to reach their full potential. I have worked with students who have a wide range of Special Education Needs i.e. Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, Hearing Impairment, SLCN, SEMH, SpLD and MLD. My tutoring style offers bespoke support to instil confidence and self-esteem in students by listening to them; building rapport and meeting their learning style/needs, to assist them in reaching their full potential and close their gaps in learning. I am proficient in teaching the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 syllabus, and have marked English GCSE papers on behalf of the AQA Examination board. I have also taught according to the Pearson Edexcel/Edexcel iGCSE and Cambridge/CIE iGCSE specifications. I offer baseline, formative and summative assessments, as well as student friendly mark schemes that are more accessible for students, especially those who are overwhelmed by the wording, content and length of the English exams.
