Julie Brain

I’m an experienced English teacher and tutor with over 20 years’ experience working with students of all ages and abilities, from Year 1 phonics through to GCSE, iGCSE and A-Level. I spent 16 years teaching in secondary schools, including as Head of Key Stage 3, and now work full-time as an online tutor supporting students in English Language, Literature, phonics, ESOL/EFL, SEN and SEMH. My teaching style is warm, encouraging and tailored to each individual child. I believe confidence is just as important as academic progress, and I aim to make lessons engaging, supportive and enjoyable while still building strong skills and clear progress. I have experience helping students who are anxious, lacking confidence, struggling academically, or aiming for top grades. I am also an experienced exam preparation tutor and examiner, with detailed knowledge of GCSE exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and iGCSE specifications.
